A hear a little Morphine, more Sonic Youth and a feel of the Doors. Anyone else into these folks?

Although I'd heard of them I'd never given them a try. After checking out that video I went and found the whole show.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AijRdaie84 ..definitely some good stuff. Alison Mosshart has a great female rocker voice (and looks great) and I was pleasant;y surprised with Jack White's drumming.

I imagine dead folks would be more into Jack's new solo album, Blunderbuss. FREAKIN AMAZING if you ask me. One of the best albums of the past ten years or so, although one of my friends whose been following White since the beginning said it sounded gentrified and wimpy so White Stripes fans might want to steer clear.

As I hear, he's been touring with two bands, one all male and one all female, with very different sounds. He plays the same songs with both and decides at breakfast which one will play the show that night.

Wow!

One indie-punk "superstar"(a term used much to frequently and loosely)and three virtual unknowns equals one "supergroup"*(again, a term used much too frequently and loosely ).

*pulled form the YouTube comments at the "full show" link.

I'm not familiar with Morphine, don't care for Sonic Youth and definitely DO NOT feel the The Doors. I'll pass.

But, thanks for the recommendation anyway. Sometimes you get shown the light in the strangest of places.

Supergroup here means 3 lucky people who have attached themselves to some talent. One may be banging Jack so they get extra time, like a soccer match. Or not. You don't like the Doors? Bill, isn't that a prerequisite for being a baby boomer? Morphine is a opiate with a potentially powerful high called death, or at least 'stop breathing'. What a smart ass! Here, though if you like this I'll eat my shorts. http://tinyurl.com/cws79r6
I'll just pass on your SY comment. The divorce is still too painful.

I feel you now Bill. DW is dead to you, period. Not our GD of course.

If you put dead in a band name does it increase the % chance of success of the band? Coolness factor? Doom factor? An early death to be actually be dead?

Here is one I think will make you smile.

Jack White is one of the few musicians that I was onto contemporaneously as opposed to discovering U2 in '87, Talking Heads in '91, etc.

Anybody that sez fuck L.A. I want to be in Nashville so I can be in 3 bands at once while producing everybody I can get my hands on gets a thumbs-up, shit—double Thumbs-up, from me (I'm sure Mr. White will be relieved to hear that I approve.) Plus, I love his grungy guitar sound.

If you haven't seen "It Might Get Loud", it's definitely worth checking out. I think I streamed it off of Netflix.

Thanks for the heads-up, S.

If you paste the YouTube URL into the appropriate box, you can capture and mp4 or other such file.

Thanks Judge for the goodies. The movie is on Crackle and for the first time in almost two years I'll be watching something besides N/f on the Roku. Double bonus as I didn't have a movie for tonight.
